We are all aware that DUI is not acceptable in Las Vegas even it is known as the entertainment capital of the world where famous casino resorts are located. It may tolerate gambling or any form of adult entertainment but drunk driving and even drugged driving is not tolerated. The visitors of Las Vegas are not exempted on this laws, rules and regulations. They are very serious on giving charges to those people who violate this law and fortunately there are decreasing number of people who have been injured or killed because of drunk driving. Now, Las Vegas is addressing the same dangers that may happen in drugged driving.

 

Driving under the influence of alcohol is not the only thing that impairs people judgment, reaction time and motor’s skills, marijuana or any other prohibited drug could influence people’s driving skills. If people who are driving are not in normal state, many possible things may happen, driver, passengers, pedestrian and other people who are in the road may be at risk. There is no doubt that driving under the influence of alcohol or drug is a serious crime in Las Vegas.

 

Aside from Las Vegas, there are other states in United States that passed laws to consider that driving under the influence of drug is illegal such as Wisconsin, Virginia, Utah, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Georgia and Arizona. It is good thing to know that they are giving attention to drugged driving because it really impairs drivers driving skills that causes fatal accidents, reckless driving and motor vehicle crashes. Marijuana is the common illegal drug that has been detected in impaired driver. Other prohibited drugs are amphetamines, opiates, cocaine and benzodiazepines.

 

It was in the study that more teens are driving under the influence of marijuana and they have higher risk in experiencing accident because they are least experienced driver. Drugged driving is hazardous because of the effect of prohibited drug in our brain. Drug can alter our reaction time, balance, coordination, attention, cognition, perception, sensations and others that may affect the driving. The effect may vary depending on the user’s history, drugs he take and amount of drugs he consumed. It is more dangerous if the driver is under the influence of both alcohol and marijuana. It is right to say that drunk driving and drugged driving is dangerous for everyone.
